Paul Lawlor

Originally from Belfast. I moved to Cumbria in August 2015 to begin my BA (Hons) Primary Education 5-11 (w/QTS) at our Fusehill Street campus. One of the key reasons I chose the University of Cumbria for undertaking my teacher training degree was that I had worked in my local primary school back home as an assistant. Within this school, 3 teachers had gained their PGCE from the University. Additionally, a lot of friends had mentioned Cumbria as a fantastic destination not only for solely teaching vocational degrees but a range of other degrees also. After coming for my interview, I knew that this was the place for me due to the friendly supportive staff and the welcoming feel of the campus and city.
Since graduating, I have taken up the role of Outreach Officer here at the University. I am enthusiastic and passionate about supporting people on their journey into Higher Education whilst also giving something back to the University who offered me unrivalled support, guidance and opportunity both academically, personally, & professionally whilst studying. I gain a great sense of reward in helping people to make their next steps and reaching their full potential.
